Colombia is one of the world’s leading banana producers and exporters, with the fruit being a key part of its agricultural economy and global trade. Colombia’s banana plantations are mostly found in the following regions: Urabá (Antioquia) – The largest banana-producing region, exporting more than 75% of the country’s bananas. Cities like Apartadó, Turbo, and Chigorodó are known for large banana farms. Magdalena (Northern Coast) – The second-largest producing region, where bananas are grown in Santa Marta and Ciénaga, with ideal tropical conditions. Guajira & Valle del Cauca – Smaller production zones that are growing in importance due to favorable climates.
